January Message from Michael Tilt, CEO

Welcome back to a new year! The silly season is over and 2018 is in full swing. We hope all our clients have had a good holiday break and we look forward to helping you make this year even more prosperous than the last.

I had some time to reflect over the break to review the astonishing results we achieved last year. I am very proud to lead a dedicated national team of passionate and professional property experts. As I enter my 8th year as the Chief Executive Officer I will ensure we continue to focus as a team on collaborating with our clients on problem solving in an increasingly complex environment.

One of our first business initiatives for 2018 is to further assist our clients with a range of collaborative boardroom presentations focusing on a number of our key insights and market trends for the year ahead.  Some of these key insights and market trends include;

  • Growth in service jobs and the knowledge economy
  • Technology disrupting the status quo
  • Growth in second-tier cities
  • Opportunities for growing Australian Tourism
  • Demand for new retirement models

Please contact our marketing team if you would like to be involved or to arrange a presentation.

You may have previously seen some communication about a MacroPlan brand refresh. This is another major business initiative for the company and we can’t wait to share with you a whole new look in early 2018. MacroPlan are market leaders in property solutions and we are looking forward to bringing our brand in line with the innovative and modern approach we take towards all our projects.

As part of our brand refresh and business strategy, a number of staff across the organisation are actively involved in supporting the delivery of a number of key initiatives in 2018. As part of the ongoing commitment from the national leadership group, I will be personally ensuring that I am active locally in each office to ensure staff and clients receive the ongoing support and collaboration to succeed.

Our Executive Chairman Brian Haratsis will also be as busy as ever, with a number of key speaking engagements in 2018 including market outlooks in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Wollongong.   Brian will give insight on critical economic and social issues impacting the property sector in 2018. Brian will also address the issues and forecasts for each region for the year ahead and an insight to key strategic opportunities.

In November last year, Brian released his latest book Autropolis: The Diverse Mobility Revolution in Sydney to great acclaim.  After the overwhelming success of the launch and interest in the book, Brian is looking forward to launching in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth early this year. The Diverse Mobility Revolution is the next ‘Big Thing’! It is going to be bigger than PC’s and bigger than smartphones. The Macroplan team are busy supporting clients in understanding the business opportunities and the spatial restructuring of cities. This transformative technology will change everything, not least, property development and planning.  You can purchase a copy of the book via our website. If you would like to arrange a session on preparing a mobility needs assessment, please contact our marketing team.

We may already nearly be February, but the Chinese New Year is just around the corner. The year of the Dog, is the eleventh in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese Zodiac. The Chinese regard the Dog as an auspicious animal and symbolises loyalty and honesty – two qualities we hope you encounter throughout the year ahead!

I am wishing you and your colleagues a very successful 2018 and beyond.

Michael Tilt
