Project Name: Camden Council Residential DCP Review Client: Camden City Council
Project Description: The Camden LGA has gone through a decade of rapid and aggressive urban growth which is expected to continue over the coming decade, particularly with the announcement of significant infrastructure investment in the surrounding areas such as the second airport at Badgerys Creek and road and rail upgrades in support of this. As such, it was timely for Council to take stock of the outcomes of this growth in terms of the urban environment and to measure the performance of planning and development controls in delivering high quality, liveable places which meet the needs of a diverse community. The study undertaken by MacroPlan was an important one to ensure that Council has an appropriate statutory framework in place to guide the next decade of growth in Camden in consideration of the many competing values and interests existing in the LGA.
MacroPlan provided market reconnaissance to inform a review of council’s development controls for residential development in its established and new release areas. As part of our services, we conducted a useful workshop with developers and home builders and provided up-to-date market information about housing demand and need in the area.
